Confidence and Strength - June 2026

“We’ve seen the end of diamond (mining) in India. We’ve seen the end of diamond production in Brazil at scale. We’ve seen the end of diamond production in Australia… It is possible that there will be no diamond mining, in Canada by next year.” This is a quote from Al Cook, current CEO of De Beers.

Paul Zimnisky states that there is a “sharp contraction in global diamond supplies… (currently we stand at) the lowest global output since 1987. With so much supply rapidly coming offline, the result will likely be three primary entities (De Beers, Russia, and Angola) controlling the vast majority of the world's natural diamond supplies …. (and cooperatively they should be able to put the) squeeze on natural diamond prices.”

If one is betting on the long game, there is a distinct probability that natural diamond demand will outstrip future supply. In support of this proposition, Doug Stevens ‘The retail Profit’ claims that holding out and resisting the current flow is not a sign of weakness but a definition of strength.  Alrosa, the Russian diamond miner, is curtailing supply and holding their position, not due to sanctions, but with the expectation of profiting from a future diamond production shortfall.

Miners recover diamonds. Cutters polish diamonds. Dealers tailor inventory to specific demands and retailers create demand. Diamond marketing is dependent on the participation of all sectors. If we all are of one mind, with a common purpose, we convey confidence and strength.

To encourage confidence in natural diamonds, Regal imports, is adding our voice to natural diamond promotion by, not only, stocking the most curated white diamonds, but also some of the most beautiful shapes and colours that we can find. Each select diamond is analysed by the GIA and pictured in its full beauty on our website. I might add the prices are affordable.

These incredible diamonds defy verbal description and must be seen to be appreciated. Each is a one-off. They are highly impactful, and when coupled with retail participation and enthusiasm, create a rare, one-of-a-kind presentation. They are our contribution to a greater retail appreciation of the rarity and profitability presented by natural diamonds.

We are also buying as many tightly graded Canadian diamonds as possible. Again, Regal is trying to bring differentiation to retailers who wish to stock natural Canadian diamonds before they disappear. We believe that all our diamonds deliver an engaging story of colour, special cutting, or Canadian origin.

Natural diamond sales depend on the consistent cooperation of miners, cutters, dealers and retailers working hand-in-hand in promoting the emotional joy of owning a one-of-a-kind natural diamond. At Regal Imports, we believe in what we sell. We are passionate supporters of the natural diamond industry!
