Are CanadaMark diamonds cut in Canada?

Regal Imports Ltd. has never promoted the idea of encouraging the development of a third world diamond cutting industry in a first world economy. It is our belief that the First Nations and citizens of Canada will not benefit by learning a menial skill that is practiced at minimal wages in third world countries. It is interesting to note that most of the cutters working in the few Canadian cutting factories are neither First Nations people nor Canadians, but rather cutters imported from Armenia and other areas of the world like Vietnam.

It is for these reasons that CanadaMark diamonds are cut in the world's major diamond cutting centres. All Canadian diamond rough is sorted and distributed outside of Canada. Local Canadian cutters pick up their diamond rough from mine offices in Belgium or throughout the world. They take their rough diamonds from these centres back to Canada for cutting so the initial chain of custody is already broken.

The CanadaMark program is the most inclusive audited system for guaranteeing origin in existence. Whether a diamond is cut by an Armenian in Canada or by an Armenian in Armenia is irrelevant. What is important is that diamonds that are guaranteed by the CanadaMark program have been tracked and audited by the most efficient system available and represent the best standards in environmental and ethical practices.
