CanadaMark is a program for identifying the origin of Canadian diamonds. The CanadaMark identification number engraved on the girdle of a Canadian diamond is the guarantee from the owners of the Ekati mine that a diamond with this mark is unequivocally Canadian in origin. CanadaMark only guarantees the origin of a particular diamond it does not guarantee the colour or clarity grade. The quality of any Canadian diamond is only as good as the company and brand that sells that stone.

      Each CanadaMark brand or dealer purchases a different selection of polished diamonds from the full production of the Canadian mines. Regal Imports, as an example, selects only D to F colours and VS-SI clarities. Other CanadaMark dealers purchase different qualities according to their customer base. Just because a dealer advertises that they carry CanadaMark diamonds does not mean that their grading is strict. The CanadaMark program, as stated, is a guarantee of origin not of grading standard.
